LWV Jo Daviess County
The League of Women Voters is nonpartisan, but political. The League does not support or oppose candidates or political parties. The League does work to influence public policy through citizen education and advocacy, and encourages our members to be politically active.
Our local League formed in 1981 by a group who wanted to be informed and active on local, state, and federal issues.
The League was founded in Chicago in 1920 by leaders of the women's suffrage movement to educate new
women voters and fight for social reform.
